A wonderful start, 7 entries for Poet of the Moment. Well, seeing as all are so grand, it has been determined by our illustrious panel of elite judges, and I might add, a unanimous decision: IT’S A TIE!!! That is correct the first ever 7 way tie.
Below are all the entrants Poems.

Now for the important stuff. Note I have not placed any individuals name on their respective poem. I am keeping these in a binder which I intend to do two things with later. First , I will turn these into a yearly book and give one to each person in our little club each year end. Second, I intend to read several of these poems at fairs, dinners, get togethers, etc., next year.

So, what I would like to know is… Can I use your … 3 choices here.
Full name ? (my preferred choice)
First name only? (my preferred at the very least choice)
Or Journal name? (my least preferred choice, but either way, I want you to be comfortable)
Pick a choice and sign your “name” at the end of each Poem.

For those of you who won this past month. Please respond to me with your choice.

AND HERE THEY ARE THE WINNERS : each has currently earned $1 dollar towards their year end winners prize.

OOPS: forgot something. It gets harder to win from here on. There will be monetary prizes at the end of the year (or maybe prizes bought with money won). No kidding! So enter as many as you can. Harder poems bigger prizes.

OKAY, HERE THEY ARE THE WINNERS:

    Star

Where are you, my little friend?
Shining softly in black night sky
always present when have I need
to comfort and sing sweet lullabyes.
Where are you tonight, my star?
Why now do clouds hide you?

    Star

When you walk a lonely road
Look to the stars and behold
Against black velvet their steadfast light
Ask them to guide you tonight.
Know your friends are always near
Even when they can't be here.

    Star

In the sky, a twinkle there
    Watching over me down here

A friend among the starry dome

Yet cold, and far, and distant still
A frightening fire of Heaven's will

A coin's two sides above me

    Star

gemstones laid out on black velvet,
giants of space and time consuming
themselves in a show of wealth,
beacons marking the infinite possibilities awaiting
discovery, and I am richer than
all the heavens for my friends.

    Star
The sky is cold and black.
Darkness covers the land and sea.
Still, overhead, a star shines bright.
A solitary beacon leading me home.
It glitters against the deep blackness.
My travelling companion and my friend.

    Star

Red plush carpets and flashing lights
Hot topic of some movie night

Search his past and drama galore
But really it’s simply a bore

Until he dies without a friend
Drama queen till the bitter end.

    Star

Mistakenly thought to shine at night
‘tis always there throughout day’s light
Be presence or thought, ne’er despair
a brilliant star ‘tis ever there
So shall I, your true friend
Faithfully present ‘til one must end

PS: yes note my poem is here too. Yes I can win also. HEHE ! so nice to know the judges.

PPS. New poem to be determined tomorrow or later today

    Star

Mistakenly thought to shine at night
‘tis always there throughout day’s light
Be presence or thought, ne’er despair
a brilliant star ‘tis ever there
So shall I, your true friend
Faithfully present ‘til one must end

hello everyone, Squire Paul is back. This time I am really concentrating, hunkering down, and actually making the time to do this. To all the friends who wrote in the past, i offer my appologies for not understanding how to do this journal stuff. To all who are here now, same. I will not be able to respond daily. I will be reading all entries daily and will make weekly updates, such as how this site will change, winners, other stuff as i learn about them. Be patient and forgiving, please. But, don't give up on me to quick. One rule : no grammar corrections of anyone elses work unless requested. Free style thinking and fun is the idea here. Please read on...

Here it is. I am starting something new. I would like to create a poetry blog. Is this correct to call this a blog? Anyhow, being relatively new to this, I expect ya’ll to be forgiving.

This is how it’ll work. I am asking you, my friends, to write poetry. Don’t worry, I’ll be writing also.

Did not expect this from Squire Paul, did you? Well contrary to everyone’s perceived notions of my persona, I am a truly worldly person. (so I like to think) I love art, especially, the Renaissance painters. I love most music, and Classical is a must for me. I love reading about many and any things. Yet, reading poetry is something I have only perused on occasion. And, Yes, I will admit I have enjoyed reading poetry. There is a beauty in poetry. And, Beauty is wonderful. I have always fancied myself an aspiring poet (and only until now, shared this secret, only with myself). Why poetry and why now? Perhaps, it is because it takes so little time? No. so little thought? No. so little, hmmm… I don’t know… it’s easy. No. I think it’s because it can be so creative. Next to beauty, I love creativity. Now. Right now! This is the time. It is time for me to hit it, to put my mouth where the paper is. It just feels right to do this. Why ask you all to do this too? It’s fun to have friends and more fun to do things with friends. Next to Beauty and Creativity, I love Variety. This will be so interesting and entertaining. The way I envision this blog taking shape will be so fun. I feel this will grow quick.

So, back to the rules. What are we going to do? It’ll start off simple. I will give a word, concept , emotion, anything. Add to that some stipulations, for example the type of poem, lines, number of words, words not to be used, perhaps every word must start with the same letter. Who Knows. There will be a time frame for all entries. Entries?--You ask. That’s right it be for prizes. Most likely these will be virtual prizes, but they will add up. But, all who enter get to share in the decisions. Another Idea was to let that winner choose the next theme. So many things to think of.

So, what do you think? Who’s in? I would like to make the first Poem due October 23rd. Please pass this on to all you know who might find it interesting. Anyone is welcome. Dark and dreary. Overly happy and enthusiastic. Cold and calculating. Free and trusting. Josh I am really interested in things you might right.

First theme will be easy, I think?.
    Theme: Star
    Number of lines: 6
Number of words per line: 6
One line must end with the word “friend” or have Friend in it. Ie friendship

Oh and by next week I will post some info on the different types of poems etc there are.
